The Broken Link

Nine-year-old Derek Lawson wakes before sunrise, too excited to sleep. His father is coming to take him fishing. The sandwiches are packed. The fishing pole is waiting by the door. And every time headlights move across the window, Derek thinks this might finally be him.But seven o'clock comes and goes. Then eight. Then noon.Derek keeps waiting.Years later, that boy is gone-or at least Derek likes to think he is.Life has moved on, bringing with it love, responsibility, difficult choices, and the complicated business of becoming a man when no one ever handed you the instructions. But some lessons learned in childhood have a way of following us.And some promises leave behind more than disappointment. The Broken Link is an unforgettable story of family, fatherhood, love, and the moments that quietly shape who we become.Because sometimes the most important part of what we're given is deciding what we refuse to pass on.
