FUNDAMENTALISM: Repercussions

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN RELIGIOUS CERTAINTY MEETS THE REAL WORLD?In this second installment, Shawn Jipp - a former Christian Fundamentalist who knows this world view from the inside - refuses to look away from what absolute certainty has actually cost: Christian nationalism rewriting American law in God's name, women legislated by men who seem to not have much compassion, families torn apart when a loved one dares to leave, the Ten Commandments forced on all kids in public schools, condemnation of those with a different sexual gender, and a disgust for those 'unsaved' dressed up as holiness by those certain they are 'saved.'This volume offers an indictment of what happens when people abandon history, reason, Occam's razor, science, and modern scholarship in their beliefs and instead trust only what they have been taught to believe. Fearless, uncompromising, and long overdue, FUNDAMENTALISM: Repercussions examines what fundamentalism has cost America and the world. It finally asks the question true believers rarely allow themselves: when disaster strikes the righteous and the wicked alike, indifferent to anyone's prayers, what does that say about the God everyone insists is in control?
