Controversies in Endodontics

Controversies in endodontics continue to challenge clinicians due to rapidly evolving concepts, materials, and treatment protocols. This dissertation aims to critically evaluate the major debated topics in contemporary endodontic practice and analyze the available scientific evidence supporting different approaches. Key areas discussed include vital pulp therapy versus conventional root canal treatment, single-visit versus multiple-visit endodontics, working length determination, irrigation protocols, intracanal medicaments, obturation techniques, management of persistent periapical lesions, retreatment versus surgical intervention, and regenerative endodontic procedures. The role of newer technologies such as CBCT, rotary instrumentation, magnification, and bioceramic materials has also been explored. Various opinions presented in literature often create confusion regarding the most predictable treatment approach. Therefore, this library dissertation focuses on comparing traditional concepts with recent advancements to understand their clinical significance and long-term outcomes.
