The integrated oval bit guards with the carefully shaped transition to the middle part prevent lip pinching and also provide lateral support. The increased pressure from using the second rein on the gag bit causes the bit to rotate and be pulled upwards in the mouth. This results in a stronger effect. Very useful with horses that tend to lean on the bit. Likewise also useful on horses for achieving increased elevation.
