Among the Ashes

Among the Ashes is a soulful story of love and war, dangerous liaisons, and conflicted loyalties. At the dawn of World War I, a young German officer, Lieutenant Erich von Zandt, is thrust into a world of chaos and confusion when the German-occupied city of Louvain, Belgium, is abruptly burned and looted by the occupying forces. Although the command blames local insurgents for the disturbance, he has witnessed something different. Torn between the suffering populace and his faith in the Fatherland, Erich’s growing involvement with a local woman moves him to question his most deep-set beliefs.
