In 1920, he moved to India to teach at the University of Lucknow, where he met his guru, Monica Devi. Following her to Banaras, he embraced Vaishnava renunciation in 1928 and became Shri Krishna Prem. With his guru Yashoda Mai, he built a Radha-Krishna temple in Mirtola. After her passing, he led the ashram. Revered as "Gopal-da," he was praised by Ramana Maharshi for uniting knowledge and devotion. He passed away in 1965.
