*Wisdom Stones of Bukhara* is the second volume of the Bukhara Trilogy and the inward mirror of the first. Where *Love Songs from Bukhara* gives the Traveler's outer journey - sensation, devotion, longing - *Wisdom Stones* turns the conversation around and speaks in Bukhara's own voice: oracular, aphoristic, patient as stone. Across 360 poems written in the manner of the Sufi aphorism, the koan, and the wisdom saying, the city answers the questions the Traveler did not know he was asking - and refuses, with the patience of someone who has watched empires fall, to answer the rest. Bukhara is ancient and present simultaneously, the still center around which everything spins: she has outlasted Genghis Khan, the Timurids, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and thirty years of Uzbek independence, and she will outlast whatever comes next. These are the wisdom stones the city sets down one by one: on longing as a path rather than an obstacle; on hospitality as the highest form of justice; on the dissolution of the self not as annihilation but as expansion - "now we are all Bukhara." The poems carry the trilogy's moral spine: that the meeting of civilizations at the crossroads is generative rather than threatening.
