Lord Saith Coleman is a necromancer-a mage with the power to commune with spirits and resurrect the dead. So when he is summoned to a small village deep in the woods and finds the preserved body of a beautiful young woman, it is clear what her adopted Dwarven family expects from him. When Eira Velsign returns to life, she has spiritual powers of her own, but has lost all memories of life before her death. Driven by a determination to understand and control her abilities, Eira embraces her new existence, becoming an apprentice to the necromancer himself. However, Eira soon discovers that restless spirits are not the sole adversaries she must confront. Ensnared in a treacherous inheritance plot woven by a cunning huntsman, she finds herself entangled in the investigation of a mysterious device-the origins of which could have serious repercussions not only for the Coleman family, but for the kingdom of Myrsina as a whole.
