Vikings of Hue

Jambe, the son of a respected West African chief, lives under the shadow of a ruthless king obsessed with his mother. After Jambe's father is imprisoned for defying the tyrant, Viking raiders invade the village, dragging Jambe and other youths across the sea in chains. Forced to row dragon ships through the freezing Atlantic, Jambe refuses to let slavery break his spirit. In the harsh northern fjords, Jambe earns the respect of Sten, a feared Viking captain who sees a warrior within him. As Jambe secretly masters the Viking way of combat, he endures the hatred of Dagur, the son of a Norse warlord, while finding unexpected love in Sigrid, a rebellious Norse woman. When a disastrous raid nearly destroys the Viking fleet, Jambe and his fellow captives save the vanguard, earning their freedom and a ship of their own. Reborn as the legendary "Black Vikings," they sail into uncharted seas, becoming warriors and explorers who bridge two worlds.
