This volume contains the English versions of a few published and unpublished essays related to the following questions: a philosophical worldview based on the strict distinction of evaluative and cognitive thought, and the applicability of this view to synchronic and diachronic comparison of cultures (comparative cultural research and cyclic theories of history). Similarities and differences between Eastern and Western cultures, between Northern and Southern countries in Europe are discussed. Problems of intercultural communication in everyday life and during work, migration, postmodernism, and the extension of the Kuhnian paradigm theory beyond the natural sciences into cultural research are also included.
