Victor Hugo's Songs of Twilight contains poetry that he wrote during the early 1830s on a variety of themes including the French Revolution of 1830, the child of Emperor Napoleon, and bridal festivities. The poems were then translated by George W. M. Reynolds and published in 1836 when Reynolds was working for the Libraire des Etrangers.Newly edited in modern type by Stephen Basdeo, this is the first time that Hugo's collection has been reprinted in the English language since 1836. This new edition retains Reynolds's preface and his original explanatory notes.
