Until Monday

Three nights. That's all Elliott agrees to when a foster placement falls through and a senior dog named Ellie needs somewhere to stay until Monday. Elliott is a medical-device engineer who prefers problems with measurable answers. Rescue is something he helps with around the edges-transport runs, supplies, the occasional favor. Fostering is different. It means letting a dog into the quiet life he has built with Buddy, his aging golden retriever. Ellie arrives cautious, tired, and heartworm positive. She wants a safe room, a place to sleep, and time to decide whether this man and this house can be trusted. Three nights become more. As Elliott learns the small facts of her-where she chooses to lie, when she comes closer, what changes when she doesn't-he begins to understand that caring for a dog is not the same as fixing one, and that temporary does not always mean unimportant. Until Monday is a quiet, character-driven novel about rescue, companionship, loss, and the ordinary choices that slowly change a life. A Button Road Novel - Book One
