Giftedness is a word we often associate with childhood. A bright student, an early reader, a chess prodigy. The term conjures images of accelerated math classes or piano recitals-not the woman quietly working a 9-to-5 while battling an invisible storm inside her mind, or the man sitting in a café questioning the point of everything while those around him chat about the weather. Yet, giftedness doesn't vanish in adulthood. It matures. It hides. It complicates.
