True Evangelism: Winning Souls Through Prayer

Are Modern Methods Winning Converts-or Manufacturing False Professions? In an era saturated with high-pressure altar calls, psychological manipulation, and entertainment-driven revivalism, the church faces a sobering question: Is our evangelism producing genuine disciples or merely counting raised hands? In True Evangelism: Winning Souls Through Prayer, theologian and Dallas Theological Seminary founder Lewis Sperry Chafer offers a profound biblical corrective to man-made revivalism. Written with apostolic conviction, this classic volume exposes the counterfeit forces in evangelism and redirects the believer's focus back to where it belongs: the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit through intercessory prayer.Chafer asserts that human eloquence, emotional coercion, and clever techniques cannot regenerate a spiritually dead, Satan-blinded soul. Before we can talk to men about God, we must talk to God about men. True soul-winning is not about coaxing a hurried decision, but laboring in prayer until the Spirit produces genuine conviction, repentance, and saving faith.Inside this timeless masterwork, you will explore: - False Forces in Evangelism: Why relying on psychological pressure, emotional manipulation, and hurried public professions damages souls and breeds false assurance.- The Divine Order of Soul-Winning: Why pleading for souls before the throne of grace must always precede pleading with souls in the public square.- Conviction by the Holy Spirit: How the Spirit uses the Word of God as His sword to illuminate minds blinded to the cross.- Suffering with Christ: The vital, often neglected ministry of bearing spiritual burdens for the lost in earnest intercession.- The Cleansing of the Priests: The absolute necessity of personal holiness and walking in communion with God for effective spiritual labor.Whether you are a pastor, an evangelist, or an everyday Christian with a burden for unsaved loved ones, True Evangelism cuts through human machinery to restore our confidence in God's power.Discover the quiet power of biblical soul-winning and learn how to see genuine, lasting fruit born not of human will, but of the Spirit of God.
