As a sheriff in rural Nebraska, Cash Nelson never expected to be investigating a murder. But when Caitlin Thomas, a teenager already beset by tragedy, is found dead in the park at the edge of town, fielding complaints about road construction and small-town politics take a backseat to hunting a killer. Cash and his deputies find themselves with few suspects and even fewer motives. As pressure begins to mount, they uncover a link to the previous biggest crime in county history. Cash is convinced it's more than just a coincidence, but evidence to prove it remains elusive. When he finally comes up with an explanation, his deputies, his wife, and even he himself question it. With no other recourse, Cash plays a hunch, hoping to reveal a conspiracy far deeper and more nefarious than anyone could imagine.
