Beschrijving
Visits to indigenous ethnic groups around the world whose habitats are threatened by external influences are presented in installations that bring together images of people and their environments. Barbara Dombrowski spent ten years observing climate-relevant sites on all five inhabited continents, immersing herself in the lives of communities whose existence is at risk. The project features the Inuit of East Greenland, the Achuar and Shuar in the Amazon, Mongolian nomads in the Gobi Desert, the Maasai of Tanzania, and Kiribati in the South Pacific.
On life-size textile banners, the portraits of these regions are shown within the habitat of another group she visited. This juxtaposition powerfully underscores the need to build global bridges and to recognize a shared responsibility in our era of climate change. The book blends photographic documentation of the installations with personal accounts of her encounters, addressing the climate crisis on multiple levels in a haunting and thoughtful way.
- Intieme, global kijk op klimaatverandering
- Levert portretten en contextuele beelden
- Documentatie van levens van inheemse gemeenschappen
- Verhaaltjes van ontmoetingen tijdens reizen over vijf continenten
- Presentatie op levensgrote textielbanners
- Publicatie door Benteli, 2024, hardcover, 320 pagina’s
