The Fourth Edition of Transits and Solar Returns appears six years after the previous one, with some eighty additional pages. I felt that it was necessary, first of all, to resolve a small technical problem that had obscured a few lines of text, and then because it seemed right to be at least a little more indulgent towards myself, avoiding forcing Readers to decipher several pages of notes printed in truly minute type. I also decided to add a new afterword containing three subjects that I consider fundamental in a book of this kind: - The chapter explaining how to read celestial bodies on a cusp-whether natal, in a Solar Return or in a Lunar Return-between two Houses, but also at the four angles of the sky, distinguishing their interpretation from that of the Gauquelin zones.- The reasons why we must regard Solar Returns and Lunar Returns as much more powerful than Transits.- Starting from the premise that every good astrologer should be able to calculate and draw a Natal Chart, a Solar Return chart and a Lunar Return chart by hand, I have gone further, arguing a case I have always tried to advance: to truly master these subjects, one should attempt to design a Solar Return directly in one's mind, without even consulting ephemerides, and then "aim" it, again using only the brain and not the computer, imagining the different celestial maps as geographical longitude changes. In this connection, I have reproduced in full the text of a lecture I gave many years ago in Lavagna, in the province of Genoa, during which I publicly demonstrated what I maintain in these pages.
