This book examines the development and current state of tourism higher education in Bulgaria, tracing its evolution from the establishment of the first Department of Economics and Organization of Tourism in 1965 to contemporary academic structures. It explores the transformation of tourism training through different economic and social periods, highlighting the shift from centralized education models to internationally oriented programs aligned with market needs. The study analyses the legal framework, academic organization, and implementation of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). Using SWOT analysis, it evaluates the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of Bulgarian tourism education, emphasizing the importance of specialized knowledge, professional competencies, and skills development for the future of the tourism sector.
