To Those from Below

"To Those from Below is a balefully powerful tale peopled with Gareth Wood's uniquely visionary weirdness and founded on unflinching social observation. Disturbing and moving, it's a major addition to the literature of urban supernatural horror."Ramsey Campbell"With creatures that would inspire Hieronymus Bosch to grab his palette and brushes, To Those From Below doffs its cap to Stephen King's It, Lovecraft, Ramsey Campbell and Clive Barker but this is no derivative mash-up. It's an original story of imperfect, flawed characters and social hardship set amid the hell of rundown council-owned tower blocks. It is here the monsters thrive - their origins unknown.Gareth Wood's debut novel - At Night, White Bracken - introduced him as a formidable new voice of urban horror. To Those from Below firmly establishes his credentials. Authentic, disturbing and dark, this is one to be savoured."Catherine Cavendish
