Through the Fence: A Novel of Healing & Grace

Stacy Mercer is done with the military life--it already took everything from her. When she inherits her aunt's home in the quiet town of Harlan Creek, Texas, she hopes for a fresh start for her seven-year-old son, Tommy. She wants safety, predictability, and a way to heal her fractured faith. But she didn't count on the man living just through the fence. Cole Briggs lives in the shadows of his past. A former Army K-9 handler, he believes his four tours of duty left him too broken for the life Stacy represents. He pours his soul into Briggs K-9 Solutions, training service dogs for fellow veterans as a form of personal penance. He's content with his solitude--until a curious young boy and his guarded mother move in next door. As Tommy finds a natural connection with Cole and his dogs, Stacy and Cole are forced to confront the walls they've built around their hearts. Between the dusty cedar of the Texas heat and the shared silence of a small-town church pew, they begin to wonder if God has a different plan for their pain. Can a grieving widow and a haunted warrior find the courage to trust again, or will the ghosts of their pasts keep them on opposite sides of the fence? Through the Fence is a touching, slow-burn inspirational romance perfect for fans of Karen Kingsbury and Denise Hunter.
