Three Rooms

Eight months later she is in London on a temporary contract at a society magazine, paying to sleep on a stranger’s sofa while tensions with her flatmate rise. Overworked and underpaid, she tracks the steady rise of austerity in England through the cost of Freddos, and the prospect of a permanent job seems ever more distant. The novel asks: when is it time to give up?
