Sudan is one of the developing countries suffering from structural imbalances and economic problems. This led the country to adopt and implement economic reform programs supported by the International Monetary Fund since June 1978. However, these policies failed to achieve economic growth and stability in all the various productive sectors. To address this situation, the government adopted a package of economic reforms in February 1992, the most important of which was the policy of liberalizing the exchange rate of the Sudanese pound. The exchange rate plays a fundamental role in balancing the balance of payments and achieving a degree of economic stability. It is also of great importance in attracting foreign investment, which leads to an increase in the country's foreign currency reserves. What factors and fluctuations accompanied the performance of exchange rate policies during the period from 1992 to 2022? And to what extent do these fluctuations affect exchange rate policies and economic stability in Sudan?
