Bol When Lynden Grisdale receives an unexpected inheritance his quiet life in Cumbria is upended. Amongst his great-aunt's belongings lie two curious objects: a broken theodolite and an old diary written by Hartley Birkett, a 19th-century railway surveyor whose life was steeped in heartbreak and mystery.Driven by curiosity, Lynden travels to France to follow Hartley's trail. In the town of Vienne, he meets Tess, a woman with her own ancestral enigma and a strange connection to Lynden. As they delve into the past, their bond deepens, and the boundaries between history and destiny begin to fade. Visions, echoes, and old letters suggest that Hartley's story isn't entirely in the past. As Lynden and Tess examine the diary's secrets, they are drawn into a love story that seems to mirror their own. Are they uncovering history... or reliving it?
