This is that: the Five Pentecostal Encounters That Reveal Biblical Pattern of Speaking in Tongues

What really happened when believers spoke in tongues in the Book of Acts?On the Day of Pentecost, a sound came from heaven, believers were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began speaking with other tongues. When the astonished crowd demanded an explanation, Peter opened Scripture and declared: "This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel."But Pentecost was only the beginning. In THIS IS THAT, you will follow the biblical evidence through five remarkable encounters with the Holy Spirit: Jerusalem, Samaria, Saul of Tarsus, Cornelius, and Ephesus. Rather than building doctrine on tradition or personal experience, this book carefully follows what Scripture actually says, including what it does not say.Along the way, you will discover: - Why tongues appeared repeatedly as the gospel crossed new boundaries- What Simon may have witnessed when the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit- Why Cornelius provides one of Scripture's clearest examples of tongues as observable evidence- What Paul's later testimony reveals about Saul's Spirit-filled life- Why tongues and prophecy appeared together at Ephesus- What it means to speak mysteries unto God- How tongues can function in prayer, thanksgiving, worship, and personal edification- The difference between personal spiritual prayer and tongues in the gathered church- Why interpretation matters- What Paul meant by "divers kinds of tongues"- How to understand "Do all speak with tongues?" alongside "I would that ye all spake with tongues"- How the Holy Spirit gives utterance while the believer actually speaks- Why receiving does not require striving, imitation, or loss of control- Why Paul ultimately commanded the church, "forbid not to speak with tongues"This is not a book about chasing manifestations or defending Pentecostal tradition. It is an invitation to return to the biblical record and rediscover the simplicity, beauty, and power of Spirit-filled prayer. The upper room was not the end of the story. It was the beginning.
