Child development varies from child to child and depends on factors such as genetic predisposition, environmental influences and the individual's own contribution to the development of their personality and body. However, when noticeable deviations from 'normal development' arise, action must be taken to protect the child from developing a condition. Disorders in individual development can have various causes and manifest in different ways, necessitating interventions tailored to the individual. A process of change can be brought about through medication or therapy. In particular, the use of horses is a suitable approach, promising therapeutic successes that can only be achieved through communication with the horse via its movement, its body and its nature. This work first examines, from a theoretical perspective and subsequently from an empirical one, the possibilities that therapeutic riding offers in terms of the individual support of children.
