Madison Webster has been living in her car since she lost her job and apartment. She heads to the Adirondacks for a job interview, only to miss the opportunity when a bizarre distraction causes her to crash her car. She thinks she's hit the jackpot when a seemingly perfect family takes her in. Eager to blend in, Madison adapts to the odd habits of the people in the town of Silver Spring. No cell phones, no television, an obsession with weddings, and strange food-naming conventions seem quaint at first. Yet her dream come true takes a nightmarish turn when Madison realizes the small town charm hides something sinister.
