The Surreptitiously Subversive Zohar: Case of Moses

This iconoclastic book presents both a clear introduction to Kabbalah and a new perspective on The Zohar, the core text of Jewish and Christian mysticism. Part I defines the concept of surreptitiously subversive as an approach to understanding the cryptic Zohar. Designed as a text for students, the SS Zohar provides an overview of basic concepts and explanation of how the Zohar is both surreptitious and subversive. Part II consists of 22 chapters of analyses of Zohar text as examples of surreptitious subversiveness. Most importantly, based on the author's 40 years of study and teaching, the book's appendix provides a comprehensive glossary of symbols, code names, and anagogies essential to deciphering and understanding Zohar, prayer, religious rituals and Bible. The SS Zohar explains how the Zohar is a commentary on Torah, one that is highly subversive to the rabbinic tradition. The book illustrates how Moses evolves to become corrupted by power, vulnerable to sin and ultimately commits egregious acts of evil. Yet, Moses is nevertheless the greatest prophet. The book ultimately answers the question why Kabbalah and Zohar became banned from teaching except to those highly proficient in Torah and rabbinic literature and how it consequently became lost as a foundation of Jewish and Christian thought and spirituality. The goal is to revive that spirituality.
