Emma is a fun-loving, confident 17-year-old girl who accompanies her mom, Dr. Everest, to the archaeological site of Tall el-Hammam on a quest to discover the ancient city of Sodom. Savah is the greedy, ambitious 17-year-old daughter of Biblical Lot, and becoming rich is her only goal in life. When at the archaeological site the ancient Palace Archive Scroll is found by Emma and her mom, but then stolen. Dr. Everest takes the fall for the crime, and Emma has to use any means necessary to exonerate her mother. Dr. Everest's job and reputation are on the line, and so is Emma's belief in God and herself. If it goes wrong, Emma might never believe... Alternately, Savah is conflicted about who God is, and in her quest to become rich, she also becomes entangled with the Palace Archive Scroll. She is challenged with a difficult task, where one wrong move could get her killed. In this YA historical fiction novel set in the Biblical city of Sodom, archaeologist and mom of six Dr. Angela Everett, unveils a relatable coming-of-age journey through the eyes of Emma and Savah. Whether ancient or modern, the human coming-of-age experience--figuring out who we are, who God is, and how we relate to one another--is not usually linear, but marked by periods of questioning, struggling and wrestling. And like Emma and Savah find out, we are never alone in the coming-of-age season, God faithfully walks the season with us.
