The Silver Needles: A Wickedly Dark British Comedy Thriller

THEY CAME TO FRANCE TO KNIT.THEY CAME HOME READY TO KILL.Mabel is sixty-nine, platinum blonde, blue-eyed and most definitely not ready to disappear quietly into old age.Along with her tiny but formidable seventy-four-year-old friend Doris, eighty-one-year-old George, and an unlikely collection of British pensioners, she sets off on what should be a perfectly innocent cross-Channel trip to France.A little sightseeing. A little shopping. Plenty of gossip. And, of course, their knitting. But somewhere between Britain and France, things begin to go terribly wrong. What starts as an ordinary pensioners' outing draws Mabel and her companions into something far darker than any of them could have imagined. Something is happening around them - something dangerous, disturbing and increasingly difficult to explain. And these pensioners are about to discover that growing older doesn't necessarily make you weaker.Sometimes it makes you dangerous.Especially when you've spent years learning patience. As events spiral out of control, their harmless balls of wool and long silver knitting needles begin to take on a very different purpose. Soon the group that everyone overlooks, ignores and underestimates may be the only people prepared to do what others will not.Their greatest advantage?Nobody suspects the pensioners.British eccentricity collides with dark comedy, supernatural menace and outrageous adventure in THE SILVER NEEDLES, the first book in a wickedly unconventional new series about friendship, courage, getting older - and discovering that retirement can be considerably more dangerous than advertised.Because when Mabel and her friends finally lose patience with the world, they don't reach for their walking sticks. They reach for their needles.
