Bol A man can outrun many things. However, running from himself is not one of them. Dennis Omieri is a doctor who knows too much about dying, and now, too much about his own. When his father succumbs to pancreatic cancer, the grief is devastating. But what follows is worse. Steeped in whisky and silence in the highland mists of Nanyuki, Dennis unravels: he dodges the woman who loves him, getting trapped, instead, in the wings of a random party animal while carrying a diagnosis that he finds difficult to talk about. All his life he has delivered this kind of news to patients in measured, clinical tones. Now the words belong to him. The Sick Medic is a story about what it means to face mortality when you are trained to fight it, and the stubborn, impossible desire to keep living.
