The Secret Key to Heaven (In Modern English)

First published in 1665, The Secret Key to Heaven: The Power of Private Prayer is Thomas Brooks's stirring call for every believer to cultivate a vibrant life of secret communion with God. Anchored in Matthew 6:6. Brooks shows that closet prayer is the hidden hinge on which public holiness, spiritual joy, and gospel usefulness all turn. With pastoral warmth he exposes the excuses that keep us from prayer, answers common objections, and unfolds dozens of promises that make the secret place a storehouse of grace. This refreshed edition preserves Brooks's complete text while translating his seventeenth-century prose into clear, modern English for today's reader. Whether you long to deepen your personal walk with God, rekindle a waning prayer life, or lead others into richer devotion, this modern version offers timeless theology and practical counsel for every stage of the Christian journey.
