Andrew Brown looked around the barn, smiling. This was the year! He knew it! His three-year-old thoroughbred, Panhandler, was going to win the Triple Crown. War Admiral had done it in '37 and now in '38 it was going to be Panhandler. The family was packing up for the extended trip, and Andrew still had a lot to do before they could leave, but right now he just wanted to breathe in the scent of the hay and dream for a few minutes.Andrew's heart was singing, and he went over to pat the nose of Stargazer. "I'll miss you, girl" he said. "But I'll be back this fall to clip your toenails." He gave her a sugar cube. "He our secret safe until then. I'm counting on you, girl."Andrew walked slowly out of the barn. He glanced up, smiling, and headed for the house to finish packing.
