Bol "The sea's refusal" is a true story told by someone who lived through it. It is intense, brutal, and tragic-yet it contains none of the sensational or lurid details often found in such tales, like "people resorting to cannibalism after days adrift in hunger," nor stories of "pirates robbing gold from boat people, raping women, and throwing bodies into the sea."This is a love storybetween a monk and a young female boat refugee, set against a hopeless and tragic struggle on the open sea.The work was published in serial (feuilleton) form in the Nguoi Viet daily newspaper - California, USA in January 2019.
