The Saint: Book One: 1

EnnVee: The Weight of SoulsEnnVee has spent her life believing that a healer's greatest purpose is to ease the suffering of others. Gifted with extraordinary empathy, she can sense pain as though it were her own, reach into emotions others struggle to express, and offer comfort where ordinary medicine fails. In the peaceful village of Eponia, under the guidance of the healer Lorcona, compassion has always been EnnVee's greatest strength. It may also be the thing that destroys her. When a mysterious sleeping sickness begins stealing people away from their waking lives, EnnVee discovers that something within her is changing. Her empathy reaches farther than it should. Strange psychic abilities emerge alongside her healing gifts, and the questions surrounding the illness soon stretch far beyond anything Eponia can answer.Seeking knowledge, EnnVee leaves the only home she has ever known and journeys to the sprawling Atlas District, a city overflowing with thousands of lives, countless emotions, and secrets hidden beneath its crowded streets. There, every instinct that once made her an exceptional healer is tested. In a place where suffering exists everywhere, EnnVee must confront a truth she has spent her life resisting: compassion without boundaries can become another kind of wound. As the sleeping sickness spreads and increasingly disturbing encounters suggest there may be more behind it than illness alone, EnnVee finds herself facing forces she does not yet understand-and discovering that her gifts were never meant only to heal.Because sometimes mercy means taking away another person's pain.Sometimes it means allowing them to carry their own.And sometimes, when something in the darkness refuses to let go, mercy must learn how to strike back.EnnVee: The Weight of Souls is the first book in the Saints, Shadows, & Sinners Chronicles, a dark fantasy series about compassion, power, and identity
