Aaron Jenks left his surgical practice in Los Angeles along with his wife and two daughters after a nasty divorce to retire to Costa Rica. Aan het begin van WW2 komen Liviu, een Roemeense graaf en zijn vrouw Julia wonen op een tropisch eiland, waar zij hopen om te ontsnappen aan de oorlog en hun verleden. Ze leven vol luxe in een herenhuis-achtige tent op het strand. Na een korte tijd, worden ze belaagd door een een groep ongevraagd vrienden. Er volgt een waanzinnige schietpartij, ze doden elk levend dier op het eiland voordat ze vertrekken. De enige overlevende zijn Liviu en zijn vrouw, hun vriend Larson en een dienstknecht, Eusebio. Ze hebben geen manier om te communiceren met de buitenwereld. En de passie is schering en inslag van de één vrouw en drie mannen op het eiland.
