The Nyenir Chronicles: Great Ascendancy

The markers had moved. Not fallen. Not worn away by weather. Moved - eleven paces, then more, boundary stones that hadn't shifted since before anyone alive was born, quietly walking themselves toward the water.By the time anyone in Crown City understands what that means, the cost of the last war is still being counted. Brennis is dead. Mira is dead. A breach in the Wall hasn't closed, and a throne two rightful claimants both refuse to force has been left standing empty by committee, season after season, because there's always something more urgent. There isn't, anymore.A letter arrives from a king three hundred leagues away, describing a shore that lost its own quiet war the same patient way Skerrow nearly did. Then a second letter arrives before the first one's finished being read.Whatever's been pushing at the world from underneath was never knocking on one door. It's been working its way down the whole coast - and Crown City just found out it isn't the only room in the house.
