the Many Systems of Chakras

The Many Systems of the Chakras - Discover a Tradition Far Richer Than Seven Energy CentresMost modern introductions to chakras focus on a familiar system of seven energy centres. Yet across centuries of spiritual practice, many different chakra systems have emerged, each offering its own map of the subtle body and consciousness. In The Many Systems of the Chakras, Mara Ellwyn explores this fascinating diversity, taking readers beyond the assumption that there is only one definitive chakra model.Discover how different Hindu and Tantric traditions have described varying numbers, locations, symbols, and functions of chakras, and explore how later interpretations helped create the seven-chakra system widely recognised today. The book also examines expanded contemporary models and considers why different systems developed for different spiritual purposes.Rather than attempting to declare one system correct, this accessible guide encourages readers to understand each model within its own historical, spiritual, and practical context.Meditations, visualisations, and reflective exercises provide opportunities to explore different chakra maps through personal practice while maintaining a thoughtful distinction between traditional teachings and modern interpretations.Ideal for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of chakra philosophy, The Many Systems of the Chakras reveals a surprisingly diverse landscape of subtle-body traditions waiting to be explored.
