The Man Who Buried a City: 2

He told Jerusalem the temple would not save it. They called him traitor until the ashes agreed. Jeremiah of Anathoth is called young to speak a word his city will not hear: the temple will not save a people that devours the weak, and Babylon is the instrument they refuse to see. Beaten, stocked, lowered into a cistern of mud, he buys a field while the siege closes as an act of future-tense faith and lives long enough to walk the temple's ash. Dragged into Egypt by a remnant that asked for God's word and then rejected it, he remains the mouth when every structure has failed. The Man Who Buried a City is historical fiction grounded in the book of Jeremiah and the fall of Jerusalem: a novel of reluctant obedience, institutional hostility, and stubborn hope as paperwork and clay. Book Two of The Unsung.
