THE LONG WAY BACK (2): After several months in country, Ray Stone has grown accustomed to life in a remote town decimated by war. Without electricity, telephones or internet, and surrounded by hostile armies, he and his companions abide in relative safety with a militia that occupies a fortified colonial villa. But the journalists are more than mere guests and this is no ordinary militia: The Canchaka Girls are a band of prostitutes openly bent on reward and retribution while pursuing a clandestine agenda. Under their seductive influence, Ray transitions from observer to participant, and before long he finds himself entangled in taboo romance, sexual deviance, and violent guerilla operations.
