the Last Crayon in Box

Gray is the tallest, sharpest crayon in the box-and he thinks that makes him lucky. Every day, a little hand reaches inside and chooses another color. Black draws outlines. Red fills apples and hearts. Blue colors oceans and skies. Green creates trees and frogs. One by one, the crayons grow shorter, their wrappers become torn, and their perfect points disappear. But Gray remains untouched. At first, Gray is proud to be tall, sharp, and new. Then he begins to wonder why nobody ever chooses him. Maybe gray just isn't a very important color. Until one day, the little hand reaches into the box... and chooses Gray. Soon Gray discovers an entire world waiting inside his color: a mighty castle, a brave knight, an elephant, a watchful wolf, and a moon glowing overhead. By the time the little hand returns him to the box, Gray is no longer perfect. He's worn. And he's never felt more beautiful. The Last Crayon in the Box is a warm, imaginative picture book about discovering your value, finding where you belong, and realizing that being used, needed, and loved can be far more wonderful than staying perfect. A celebration of creativity, self-worth, and the extraordinary possibilities hiding inside even the most ordinary things.
