The King Who Danced With Darkness

"This is the way of kings. One falls, another rises." There was once a time when the people of Aryeh loved me for my military victories. My soldiers were given epithets and became heroes of children who cheered and waved for them as we paraded past. Ballads were sung in our honor detailing our wars with the giants. We were living legends. The people of Ovradon were silent the last time I left, however. They didn't cheer for their army. They didn't throw flower petals at their king. Their flags flew low like it was a funeral march.Perhaps they knew before I did that it was the end of an era. The end of King Davian. The Legend Slayer's final battle. For how could they love a king who'd lost his mind? How could they cheer and bow at the feet of someone who'd destroyed the very safety he swore to protect? How could soldiers pledge their swords and lives to a king bent on fighting an unwinnable war?No, no one could love a man who tore his world apart with his bare hands. That's why a new king was chosen. A traitor king, a rebel leader, who raises his sword against my own. He's as faceless and nameless as the wind. And, like the wind, he's everywhere. He's the cracks in Vel Orin's foundations, the contention in Aryeh's dissatisfied regions, the strength in the oppressed. His message is singular: liberation from the fallen king. The King Who Danced With Darkness is the lower-adult counterpart and final installment in the YA/adult The Ivory Throne duology. The final leg of Davian's journey sees him wrestle with the lengths he will go to to protect his loved ones and defend his crown, even at the cost of his soul. This epic, classic-style fantasy is perfect for readers who love emotional damage, authentic struggles, fiery characters, ambiguous loyalties, the wrestle between good and evil, and the cost for those stuck in between. This book contains mature, sensitive themes that may be triggering for some (see the content warning for an extensive list).
