The quest to rediscover the keys to eternity and Paradise, lost in Eden, has been a desperate one throughout the millennia. The need to live a long life whilst being happy is a constant aspiration and quest throughout the ages. This is why spatial and historical disparities in life expectancy are a source of contemplation not only for philosophers, scientists and people of faith, but also for ordinary people. The common thread is that all flesh is mortal; yet the spirit within man can restore eternity to him, and it is through the spirit that he can experience absolute happiness. This essay, whilst addressing delicate questions, is an attempt to restore faith in God, who alone gives meaning to our time on this earth. It is also a refusal to resign ourselves to our fate or to oversimplify matters through a cursory reading and superficial explanations of the Word of God. The aim has not been to provide answers to the mysteries that surround us, but rather to raise issues and pose questions that will undoubtedly spark a debate on certain opinions that have become deeply ingrained in our minds.
