The impact of plastic waste

Waste management has become a concept recognised throughout the world, and the amount of waste produced globally continues to rise every day. In writing our book, we have focused on plastic waste in particular to highlight the impact of this waste on our environment. This book, recognising the limitations of traditional methodological frameworks for assessing the environmental impact of this waste in Port-au-Prince, highlights the ecological and health consequences of this waste. It also highlights the importance of addressing this waste: despite the negative effects it causes, it can contribute to boosting Haiti's economy by creating jobs through the establishment of recycling plants, and can also help with the electrification of the city. Furthermore, this research also provides an insight into readers' level of knowledge regarding plastic waste, both from an environmental and a public health perspective. In light of the findings obtained, and to ensure they are put to good use.
