Steve McQueen, James Garner en Richard Attenborough spelen de hoofdrollen in dit klassieke oorlogsdrama geregisseerd door John Sturges. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog wordt een groep geharde geallieerde gevangenen die bekend staan als hardnekkige ontsnappers, overgeplaatst naar een nieuw kamp.
