The Good Immigrant

Breadcrumb Came to America by Serving His EnemyBreadcrumb served his enemies to get to America. He escaped persecution, crossed an ocean, and arrived in a country where he believed opportunity could give him the life he had dreamed of.Born and raised on the island of Imbroz, Breadcrumb grew up in a world shaped by family, faith, tradition, and increasing persecution. As the circumstances around him changed, survival required difficult choices. His journey eventually took him away from the only home he had known and toward America. In the New World, Breadcrumb began with hard work and determination. He worked long hours, built a family, established businesses, became an American citizen, and created a life that reflected what the American dream meant to him. He never forgot the people he had left behind. He sent money home, remained connected to his family, and eventually helped family members make their own journey to America.America gave Breadcrumb something he deeply valued: an opportunity to build a future through his own efforts. His gratitude for that opportunity became part of the legacy he passed to his children and grandchildren. But this is more than the story of an immigrant finding success. It is the story of a man carrying the memories of his childhood and the hardships of the Old World with him while building a new life in America. His lifelong connection with his childhood friend Jimmy, who later became Archbishop Iakovos, becomes another important thread running through his extraordinary journey. From persecution and separation to family, faith, citizenship, hard work, and success, The Good Immigrant follows Breadcrumb's remarkable journey from Imbroz to America and the life he built once he arrived. It is a story of sacrifice, perseverance, family, faith, and gratitude for the freedom and opportunity he found in his adopted country.
