The Fiftieth Year

Every woman dreams of Meridian. >At fifty, every woman in the Continuance is rewarded with relocation to Meridian-a beautiful colony promising rest, freedom, and a second beginning. Evie has thirty days until her departure. Her neighbors congratulate her. Her daughter wants her to be excited. But Evie can think only of her mother, who left for Meridian twenty-five years ago and never came home. Then a warning appears in Marian's handwriting: Trust your instincts about Meridian. Whatever they tell you, do not let Dr. Julian Cross take you there. Unfortunately, Julian is the Ministry assessor assigned to prepare Evie for departure. He is infuriating, secretive, and far too familiar with her mother's past. The closer Evie comes to Julian, the less certain she is whether he was sent to deliver her-or save her. Every answer leads toward a truth the government has spent a generation hiding. Meridian promises women a second life. >The Fiftieth Year is Book One in The Women of Meridian-a gripping dystopian science-fiction series featuring a fierce heroine approaching fifty, a government conspiracy, sharp banter, and a slow-burn later-in-life romance.
