The Emerald Tablet: A Christian Mystical Commentary

What if one of history's most mysterious spiritual texts could be read with both reverence and discernment? The Emerald Tablet has intrigued philosophers, alchemists, mystics, and seekers for centuries. Though remarkably brief, its famous words- "As above, so below"-have inspired generations to ponder the hidden unity of creation and the mystery of transformation. As a Christian, Michael Collins approaches this ancient Hermetic text neither to dismiss it nor to claim it as secretly Christian. Instead, he allows the Tablet to speak on its own terms before bringing it into conversation with the Christian contemplative tradition. Each saying explores the Tablet through four lenses: a modern translation, its historical and Hermetic background, major interpretations throughout history, and a Christian mystical reflection that highlights both resonances and distinctions. >Whether you are drawn to Christian mysticism, Hermetic philosophy, alchemy, or contemplative spirituality, this book offers a thoughtful guide through one of the foundational texts of the Western esoteric tradition. Sometimes the deepest understanding begins not by defending what we already know- -but by learning how to listen.
