the Djinn of Lamp: Beyond Wishes: 1

In the city of Ain Zahra, eleven-year-old Shehnaaz discovers an old lamp-and a Djinn bound to grant three wishes. At first, magic seems like an extraordinary answer to ordinary problems. A wish can change what is directly in front of her, and for a moment that feels like enough. But Shehnaaz soon learns that even a well-meant choice can travel farther than the person making it can see. When one wish helps her family while quietly creating difficulties for others, she begins to understand that solving one problem is not always the same as making things better. The Djinn can change circumstances, but he cannot promise what will happen afterward, and he does not make Shehnaaz's decisions for her.As the consequences of her choices unfold, Shehnaaz begins to listen more carefully, notice how other people are affected, and think beyond the immediate result of a wish. Her journey becomes less about possessing magical power and more about learning when to use it, when to question it, and when people themselves must work together to create lasting change.Set against a richly illustrated world of markets, rooftops, dry landscapes, flowing water, and evening skies, The Djinn of the Lamp: Beyond Wishes blends fantasy and adventure with an age-appropriate exploration of responsibility, empathy, cooperation, and cause and effect. The story encourages young readers to think about how choices affect families, neighbors, and communities, while still preserving the wonder and excitement of a classic magical-lamp tale.Written for ages 6-9, the book can be enjoyed independently by older readers in that range and as a shared read-aloud with a parent or grandparent for younger children. Its themes invite conversation about kindness, consequences, listening, problem-solving, and the difference between a quick solution and a lasting one.The Djinn of the Lamp: Beyond Wishes is Book One of the Journey of the Inner Hero series, a collection of illustrated stories about young characters discovering courage, responsibility, compassion, and the strength to make thoughtful choices.
