With a view to implementing the Cameroonian government's development policy, economic issues are at the heart of the government's agenda. This book aims to highlight the distinctive nature of the economic diplomacy undertaken to facilitate the development of Cameroonian SMEs and small-scale industries. This diplomacy takes the form of international programmes between Cameroon and its international partners, which focus on capacity-building and the financing of activities across the various sectors of SMEs and small-scale industries. Although promising, these efforts are nevertheless hampered by institutional and operational difficulties that limit their effectiveness. Strengthening these efforts would require greater collaboration between the various government stakeholders and, more generally, better coordination of the collective action of all stakeholders.
