Bol Can Sharks and Orcas swim in the desert together? Apparently not, but in this poignant novel set in an imaginary hotel we meet some characters who have much in common with the predators of the ocean. Focused on an original psychological theory, the Macintosh hypothesis, a group of scientists meet in Mansouriyah City where they discover unknown realities behind an accident that does not seem to have a culprit. The story of the Gulf War runs parallel to the narration and the desert offers all its majesty, moment after moment. Sami G. Hajjar is a Lebanese American retired political science professor and former U.S. Foreign Service Officer. He is a graduate of the American University of Beirut with B.A. and M.A. degrees in public administration, and the University of Missouri where he obtained his Ph.D. in political science. His foreign service career included postings in the Arabian/Persian Gulf region as Cultural and Public Affairs Officer, and as Desk Officer in Washington, DC.As an academic, he taught at the University of Wyoming, and later at the U.S. Army War College where he was Professor and Director of Middle East Studies. His publications included numerous articles and studies published in professional academic journals. This book is his first work of fiction which he completed at the age of eighty five.
